Cubs can work
towards a number of activity and challenge badges. Here are just a few examples
Cub Scouts
Welcome to Cub Scouts
Cub Scouting by tradition, has adapted ideas from Rudyard Kipling`s The
Jungle Book. Some leaders are named after the characters
from the story e.g. Akela, Raksha, Baloo, and Bagheera. Our
Cubs meet on a Wednesday night from 6.30 to 8pm at Abermule
community centre during term time. Come along, have some fun & meet new friends, we look forward to meeting you
Cub Uniform
All Cubs are expected to wear full Cub uniform
to and from meetings and must be worn at all times unless you
are informed differently
The Cub uniform is a Green Cub t shirt and a green Cub
sweatshirt and for parades and trips out dark trousers and
shoes/trainers (not white) and a Gold 1st Abermule neckerchief.
Uniform can be purchased form either Club Sports Newtown or the
online
Scout Shop
or ask the Cub Leader as we may have some spare uniform
Cub Pack
The Cub Scout Pack is for children aged 8 to 10 ½ years old.
The pack is divided into sixes and each six has a sixer and
seconder. Each six has a different colour woggle. After
investiture your Cub Scout will hopefully during the full
programme work on their Challenge Badges and achieve all 5 in
order to achieve their Silver Scout Award. Along side doing
these challenge badges we will be doing a variety of Activity
badges. Take a look at what Sheffield Cubs think.
Investiture
The pack has simple ceremonies and you are
welcome to attend your Childs investment, when they make their
promise and parents are invited to attend.
The Cub Scout Promise is - I promise to do my
best to do my duty to God and the Queen, to help other people
and keep the Cub Scout law
The Scout Law is -Cub Scouts always do their best, think of
others before themselves and do a good turn every day.
The Scout Training Programme
The Cub Scout Leader Baloo (Sian ) & Assistant Cub Scout
leader Bagheera (Anne) have undertaken training in order to
run a balanced programme. Cub Scouts get a chance to try lots of
different activities like hiking, music, exploring, computing
and collecting. If done properly they get a badge to wear on
their uniform. Cub Scouts also get to go on trips and days out,
to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm. There is also the
chance to go camping with the rest of the pack which means
sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities.
Subscriptions /Membership
Subscriptions are collected at the start of each half term.
Membership is paid yearly.
Cheques can be made payable to Abermule Scout Group.
