Cubs Report 2010 - 2011
We have had another busy year. We started
off the year doing our IT and Road Safety badges. We went on
a night walk to look at road signs and to talk about road
safety as we went along. During the trip we found out about
Paul (now Scout Leader Bosun)’s love for the stars and
arranged for him to bring his telescope in and he did an
evening explaining about planets, which we all loved.
We had a visit to the Fire Station in Newtown, when we had a
look around and then had a chat about firework safety before
we had our sparklers and hotdogs the following week.
The weather hampered us before Christmas, so we had our
Christmas Party in January instead when they took home the
pots they had painted with Crackpots, they were amazing.
We have been working on our Animal care badge and Kate very
kindly let us visit Hafren Vets and gave us a great tour and
showed us all that goes on there, even dogs were honorary
cubs for the night, wearing their Cub scarves.
We had a Party of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to celebrate the
Royal Wedding and they were all given bookmarks to
commemorate the occasion.
This year we went to the All Wales Fun Day in Builth Wells,
we had an amazing day, with Ben designing the winning badge
out of all the Cubs in Wales and received a certificate shown
in picture above.
After the fund day, we had a sleepover at the school – a
great time was had by all.
We finished this term with our annual Limbo competition and a
Pineapple trophy was presented to Kai on our awards night. It
was followed by our traditional water night; we all got
soaked, but had an amazing time.
During the year we also worked on getting our challenge
badges so we can work towards our Silver Scout Awards. We
have had 5 Cubs awarded their Silver Scout badge this year,
well done to them. And we have been moving the Cubs on the
Scouts which is great. We expect the numbers of Cubs to grow
from 16 to 26 in the next few months.
